I ordered these tickets to see Rudimental at Rescue Rooms months ago!! £12.50 to see the UK’s current no.1 don’t mind if I do.

I’d been looking forward to this one for a while, mainly because I was going to get the Rudimental experience in a small intimate venue.

Actually, the venue took away from the experience. I enjoyed the gig, I loved hearing all the different genres that’ll feature on the album, but the venue and a crowd made up of 15 year old girls sucked the energy from it.

It was a shame, but I still had a good time. We ended up in Rescue Rooms bar after with them and they bought A LOT of J-Bombs which led to an epic dance off and vinyl disco boogie!

The gig did make me even more excited about the album though because they’ve adopted a number of different genres: house, reggae, drum n bass. I like it when a group or artist embraces a huge range of genres, it’s important to be open minded when it comes to music!

The Rudimental vibe is colourful, thirsty and different. Perfect recipe for success!

Purchased a pair of Ted Baker shoes. I love blue laces against a brown shoe, just adds a bit of character.

In general I like my feet to have something a bit different about them so the red socks work well.

Oh and the 501s I purchased about a week ago, I’m basically sleeping in them. They need a wash to tighten them up a bit.

Second gig in two days: Theme Park at Spanky Van Dykes, Nottingham.

These guys are full of disco, groove and plenty of funk. They received some criticism from the Guardian and NME, but that’s not phased them and their album has been embraced by fans!

Now they’ve finished their first headline tour - a summer of festival goodness awaits, including Reading and Leeds!

I’ve never been to a gig on my own before, but due to a mate being stuck in Derby I got myself over to Rock City to see Bastille!

I’m such a massive fan of the two part mixtape ‘Other People’s Heartache’, it’s distant, emotional, full of dark and light, creating this very vivid picture in your mind.

Not many out there that do that!

It set such a high bar that ‘Bad Blood’, left an inkling of disappointment for me because it had lost that extreme creative edge.

I went to this gig expecting a live performance to compliment the album and re-affirm my faith in a great band - it did and far better than i expected!

It wasn’t a gig that left my ears ringing, it wasn’t a gig that left me drenched in sweat it was gig that made me smile and think “Yes these guys deserve to be on that stage!”

They started with ‘Bad Blood’ and bought the whole gig into a crescendo with Pompeii.

The infamous Rock City crowd immediately wooed Dan (the lead singer) and he left saying “this has been the best gig of the tour, thank you so much!”

He showed his appreciation by singing ‘Flaws’ in the crowd.

‘Of The Night’ and ‘What Would You Do?’, both tracks from the mixtape went down a storm and showed how much that mixtape has a place in people’s hearts!

I should never have doubted Bastille, so here is my personal apology:

Bastille, I am sorry!

In truth Jay-Z doesn’t offer much to the track and Kendrick goes to town.

it was last minute but yesterday I managed to bag myself a ticket (FOR 20 SQUID) to see Foals at Rock City!

I haven’t been to a gig since The 1975 at The Bodega, and that was an 8 year old girls tea party in comparison.

Don’t get me wrong I bloody love The 1975!

It’s an amazing feeling when ‘My Number’ lifts the crowd in unison, we were literally carried by the music.

Yannis (front man) did what he always does at their gigs and surfed the crowd. He has a great trust and respect with the fans, to do that every. single. night.

They played ‘Inhaler’ for the encore, the crowd separated making the biggest mosh circle of the night and in doing so forcing a sudden rush of cold air through the venue.

The heavy, apocalyptic sound Foals produce generated anarchy and I haven’t moshed like that since… well I don’t think I have, ever!

They are by far the best band i’ve seen live, so if a 20 quid ticket to see Foals does come up, take it, and enjoy the greatest gig of your life!
